My last coversation on this website was about dead grass and a certain member of this family.  Well, the good news is that said family member spent many an hour spreading seed indeed he reminded me a lot of that farmer in the bible who scattered seed here and there.  The result of all this spreading and consequent good, soaking rain and a period of six weeks was a much improved lawn weedfree and magnificent - a significant improvement on the paddock grass which formed much of the lawns, particularly in the woods.
This garden, and I suspect the majority of gardens, is a family affair.  Both of our sons have made important contributions to it - Adam in the Bush Food Garden and Brett in the Potager.  People often ask me where Alan and i developed our interest in gardens.  Both of us came from gardening families - me in the tropics and Alan in Victoria.  Our boys and their families continue the tradition with Adam and his partner Saer sourcing much of their food from their garden, chooks and sheep in the Huon Valley.  Brett and Josie have developed a productive herb and vegetable garden in Brisbane.  My two sisters - one in Victoria and one in Brisbane are both passionate gardeners.
My sister, Maryanne, is establishing a Bed and Breakfast in Milton within walking distance of Brisbane CBD.  Her front fence is covered with brilliant magenta bouganvillea.  You can learn more about their magnicent old colonial home with its iron lace and wide verandahs on their newly developed website at brisbanemiltonbedandbreakfast.com.au. My son, Brett, has developed both of our websites - It's all pretty much a family affair when you think of it.  The Brisbane B & B will provide a home away from home for people visiting Brisbane for business, holidays or family reasons whereas Janalli provides a welcome respite to many a Melbourne business person - so we complement each other - albeit from a distance.
It's pouring with rain her and the thirsty garden is very grateful.
